Future-proof water treatment: develop next-generation nitrogen recovery technologies
Currently, nitrification-denitrification is the most common technique for the removal of nitrogen from municipal wastewater. In the future, municipal wastewater plants should become energy and carbon neutral. It is hardly possible to achieve these requirements with the nitrification-denitrification process in combination with more stringent discharge limits. Therefore, different treatment technologies are required. With ion-exchange the more stringent discharge limits can easily be reached. However, ion-exchange produces a concentrated brine, which should be treated and partially reused.
Your goal
The goal of this internship project is to optimize a process which separates the ion-exchange brine into a valuable nitrogen fertilizer, as well as a clean brine suitable for reuse in the process.
What will you be doing? We have listed it for you:
During this internship you will investigate nitrogen recovery by
Internship available from January 2025 onwards.
Who are you?
Working for us means
As an intern from the Technology & Innovation department, you will take on challenging and important projects along with Process Design Engineers and R&D engineers. You will run a project with your supervisor and a larger team located in Doetinchem and/or other locations (if applicable).
